Customization Options
- Paper or poly: Index tabs are available on paper pages or poly. Our team is happy to help you choose the best tab type for your project.
- Printing: Tab titles can be printed in black ink on the front only (1/0) or front/back (1/1). Additional ink colors are available — just provide the PMS number you need. Reverse-out printing is offered on the tab extension if you prefer a solid PMS color with tab titles in white. Body copy printing (solid PMS body, art in white, or designs up to four color process) is also available and adds to the cost.
- Sheet sizes: Standard sizes are 11″ × 8.5″ + ½″ tab (overall 9″ × 11″), 8.5″ × 5.5″ + ½″ tab (overall 8.5″ × 6″), and 9.5″ × 6″ + ½″ tab (overall 9.5″ × 6.5″). We can also create index tabs to fit custom sheet sizes.
- Tab layout: Many different tab layouts and corresponding hole placements — vertical or horizontal, side, top, or bottom, we can create exactly what you need.
- Die cut: Our tabs extend ½″ past your sheet (fixed), but tab width can be adjusted to create various tab-cuts — 3 tabs in one row uses a 3 tab-cut layout, 7 tabs uses a 7 tab-cut layout, and so on.
- Reinforcing: Add a reinforcing strip on the binding side of your index tabs to extend their life by protecting the punched holes (generally located on the backside of the tab sheets).
- Drilling: Three-hole drilling (punching) at 5/16″ diameter is most common; however, we can drill any number of holes to match your ring metal, in most diameters.
- Collating: Collate your index tabs into sets so they arrive ready to insert into your binder. Un-collated sets arrive with each tab position grouped together for you to assemble.
- Paper colors: #110 white index is our standard house sheet. Additional paper colors, thicknesses (weights), and finishes can be ordered upon request.
- Mylar colors (for paper pages): Choose clear Mylar to let the paper and ink color show through, or pick from a variety of Mylar colors at no extra charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do your index tabs fit any binder?
Yes — tabs are cut and punched to your binder size, including custom sizes, and we can produce tabs and binders together so everything fits perfectly.
What is mylar reinforcement?
A clear or colored polyester film wrapped over the tab edge and the binding holes, protecting the parts that wear out first. It's standard on tabs meant for daily use.
How many tabs can be in a set?
Any count — 5- and 8-bank sets are most common, but we produce custom bank counts and multi-set programs for manuals with many sections.
Can tabs be printed in full color on both sides?
Yes — full-color printing on the tab extension and body, both sides, plus colored mylar for extra coding.
Can you collate tabs into my binders?
Yes — we assemble tabs, printed inserts, and binders as finished kits so they arrive ready to hand out.
